About the Event
Video Game Coding Camp is a practical programming camp designed to introduce students to the basics of programming. After the camp, students will have a game they can share with their friends and family. This camp is designed for ages 11 to 14 to teach students the fundamentals of code through game design. This project introduces students to the three programming constructs (sequencing, selection statements, and iteration), variables, and the programming concept of inheritance using parent and child objects.
Video Game Coding Camp is a project-based scheme of work where students work on one project for a week. Over these lessons, students will learn how to program by recreating their version of the game “Space Bubbles.” In addition to the completed game project, students will learn the following. Fundamentals of program logic:
- How to troubleshoot faults in their videogame
- How to expand on the prototype game in the exercises
- How to work together collaboratively to improve their games
July 18-21, 9:30 - 2:30 Snacks and water are provided students need to bring a sack lunch
No coding experience is required. We will be using both graphical and text-based programming in this camp. Space is limited.
